Trends in Test Floor Automation (Xcerra Blog reprint)

This blog post talks about trends in back-end automation for semiconductor test – specifically the advent, rise, and disappointment of strip test with it’s inherent problems that preclude its use across the industry; and the turret handler’s dominance in the “jelly bean” part arena.  However, it also talks about automation and Industry 4.0 as a means to combat the rising labor costs in Asia – using automation to further reduce the need for human interaction in test.  It specifically addresses the costs and difficulties of finding skilled labor in Singapore, and the potential that increased automation offers.
